Under his direction the Grenada group made many performances in support of Cuba in the fight against the United States blockade and called for the liberation of the five anti-terrorists jailed in that country, the Council of State resolution stated.

The document read in a ceremony by the second in charge of the Cuban mission, Carlos Camps, pointed out that the medal is granted by proposal of the Cuban Friendship with the Peoples Institute for his contribution in strengthening ties of friendship between both countries.

The Grenada artistic group, now under the name of Vladimirski, received a diploma of recognition for outstanding and active solidarity with the Island.

Visibly touched, the founder and general director of Grenada, Tatiana Vladimirskaya, described her husband, who died two years ago, as an example of sincere friendship and faith to Cuba until the last moment.

A virtuoso in the balalaika, he triumphed in the United States and was a permanent guest in the London Royal Albert Hall Theater but no triumph could compare with the glory of participating in the World Festival of Youth and Students in Havana in 1978, she emphasized.

His greatest work was renouncing his individual success in favor of educational work with children and young persons who cultivate Cuban and Latin American music with the same love of its founder and imitate him in solidarity as a way of life, concluded Vladimirskaya.
