Tehran : Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini on Friday dismissed the US President George W. Bush’s “unjustified” anti-Iran claims.

“Such claims represent baseless, repeated and boring stances and are an effort to offlay responsibilities of an occupying state,” Hosseini said on Friday.

He said the US President’s claims should be interpreted as evasion of ongoing Iraq realities as the US statesmen have never been ready to accept them and have been willing to cause more insecurity and instability and add up to pains and sufferings of the Iraqi people.

The Iranian official said the occupying forces are main source of insecurity in Iraq.

“Chronology of conditions and events in Iraq shows that whenever the US comes across with acute security problems in Iraq it resorts to such illogical methods as accusing others rather than adopting logical stances to tackle security problems there,” he noted.

He went on to say that leveling baseless and vain allegations against other countries can not blur the reality that occupiers’ presence in Iraq for several years has caused lack of peace and calm in the country and stirred stability in the region.

Hosseini touched on Iran’s Iraq stances and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has on enormous occasions announced that is highly interested in stability and security in its neighboring state, Iraq, and considers it as an important factor of regional stability, tranquility and progress.”

He said Iran’s irrevocable policy — as it continues to insist on it — has always been based on assisting Iraqi government and nation and cooperating with Iraq neighbours and regional and international organizations to restore durable peace to the country.
