GCC Secretariat delegation in Oman on fact-gathering mission

Muscat : A delegation from the Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) visits here Sunday the Sultanate of Oman to review and benefit from Omanis’ expertise in scientific and technical fields, and the efforts that national research bodies exert in different domains.

The delegation started its tour by visiting the headquarters of the information technology authority in the Oasis of knowledge in Muscat and met its executive chairman, Dr. Salim Bin Sultan El-Ruzaiqi.

The delegation discussed aspects of Oman’s expertise in establishing national capabilities in the field of information technology, and the infrastructure projects the authority is executing regarding “Digital Oman.” It has also discussed the prospects of cooperation between Oman and the GCC countries in this field.

The delegation then visited the research centers in the University of Sultan Qaboos to get an idea about their work.

The visit program includes attending a lecture about the ongoing programs and research and visits aimed at observing process of work in the labs in the agricultural research centers.

The program also includes a visit to the scientific research council and tours and meetings with a number of officials in the Ministry of National Economy and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Minerals.

This visit is the first as part of an agreed GCC visits program.
