New Delhi : The Former President, A P J Abdul Kalam, said that India needs Energy Independence, rather than Energy Security.
Kalam said our energy resources should not disturb the environment, especially the Ozone layer, which should be developed through Solar Energy, Nuclear Energy based on thorium and not based on Uranium and Bio fuel.
Bio fuel plants should be installed in the 90 million hectares of waste barren land and it should not be planted in the agricultural land.
On food security another green revolution based on soil is needed, said Kalam in a program of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Coimbatore (ICCIC) in Coimbatore, Thursday, official media reported here.
He pointed out that Research and Development Laboratory should be set up for the survival of Small Scale Industries.
It should also be updated from time to time.
He said that at present 10 crore SSI units are suffering due to lack of modern technology and other related matters.
