Kabul : One soldier serving the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has been killed and two soldiers wounded by an explosion in Helmand province of southern Afghanistan, the ISAF said Saturday.
The military alliance in a statement said the soldiers were hit Friday by “an unknown explosion” during security operations in Helmand.
One ISAF vehicle was also damaged, it added.
The ISAF as usual did not release the casualty’s nationality.
Helmand, a known hotbed of Taliban militants, were mainly guarded by some 7750 British soldiers.
A total of 47,000 multi-national NATO-led troops are deployed with UN mandate in Afghanistan to help with stabilization and reconstruction.
