New Delhi : In a snub to Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Tuesday reinstated Rashmi Jain, who was sacked as senior financial advisor of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.
According to AIIMS sources, Jain, a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official, came to the institute to rejoin office.
“She has already visited the institute and is most probably going to start working from Wednesday,” said a senior AIIMS faculty member.
Ramadoss removed Jain from her post last month, a year before her tenure ends, amid a turf war between the minister and the AIIMS administrators. The high point of the fight saw Ramadoss getting the the AIIMS Act amended to force his rival and then AIIMS director P. Venugopal to resign.
After sacking Jain, Ramadoss had appointed D.N. Pathak, the health ministry’s chief controller of accounts, to take charge of duties at AIIMS.
Jain moved the Delhi High Court against the ministry order. The court after listening to the case, had referred her complaint to the CAT.
“The minister was trying to sack all those who are not loyal to him. The present direction from the CAT is a big blow to the interfering attitude of the minister,” the faculty member told IANS.
