By KUNA,

United Nations : “Deeply troubled,” Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday called the recent bombings of a school, water installations and a market in the villages of Um Sidir, Ein Bassar and Shegeg Karo in North Darfur, Sudan, as “entirely unacceptable.” His deputy spokesperson Marie Okabe told the daily press briefing that “The Secretary-General strongly deplores these acts, which targeted civilian areas, including locations where children congregate.” She said Ban is also “concerned” about the increasing acts of banditry which complicate humanitarian operations and impede the UN-AU Mission in Darfur (UNAMID)’s ability to carry out its mandate.

The UN said the targeted areas were controlled by the rebel group Sudan Liberation Army, and have witnessed “repeated aerial attacks” by government forces.
