Berlin : Iran is displaying its first home-made auto engine at the 2008 Engine Expo, currently taking place in the south German city of Stuttgart, an Iranian auto official told IRNA on Wednesday.
The head of the marketing and sales department of Iran Khodro’s engine research center (IPCO), Amir Hossein Baradaran Ghanad said this was IPCO’s first attendance at this year’s three-day Stuttgart engine expo (May6-9).
“We have exhibited an Iranian-made gas fuelled engine at the fair and the overall response has been very positive. Iran is the first Islamic country to have the capacity to build its own engine,” Baradaran Ghanad added.
Pointing to surging global oil prices, he expressed that the sale of such an environmental-friendly engine could eventually find a place on the international engine market.
Baradaran Ghanad stressed tests had shown that the engine met also European quality standards and hence could be used in other countries.
Auto companies from nearly 60 countries, among them, Germany, the US, France, Italy, Britain, Austria, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Switzerland, Australia, and Slovenia are taking part at the 10th Engine Expo in Stuttgart.
