New Delhi : India said on Tuesday that political uncertainty would increase over Indo-US nuclear deal if Bush Administration changed.
Indian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on Nuclear Deal Shyam Saran while interacting with members of the Women’s Press Corps here said the government was trying to address the reservations of allied parties on the deal.
The Left parties and BJP- led opposition grouping is opposing the deal in the present shape.
When asked about the prospects of the deal if it fails to go through during the tenure of Bush administration, he said “Obviously, the sooner we have the deal, the better.”
“As the process continues, the world is not standing still. The level of political uncertainty will increase. Therefore, it is in our interest to get it through sooner than later,”media reports quoting Shyam Saran said.
Meanwhile, the government failed to muster support from the Left Parties on the deal during the eighth round of UPA-Left committee held on Tuesday. The Committee will meet on May 28 again.
The Left parties have decided to hold meeting on May 23 to decide their strategy ahead of the committee’s next meeting.
