Moscow : The inauguration ceremony of Russia’s new president Dmitry Medvedev, who will succeed Vladimir Putin, started at the Kremlin Wednesday.
The grand ceremony was attended by senior officials of the state as well as foreign guests.
Medvedev, the third and youngest Russian head of state since the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s, swept the March 2 elections, thanks to Putin’s endorsement.
The former law professor and first deputy prime minister has pledged to continue Putin’s policies.
Putin is expected to take the office of the prime minister Thursday.
