New Delhi : The reprieve from scorching summer continued Thursday in Delhi and most of the north Indian states, as the maximum temperature remained two to three degrees Celsius below the normal.
As mercury further went down in Delhi to 37 degrees Celsius from Wednesday’s high of 39 degrees, people on the streets were in a joyous mood and braved the somewhat mild summer sun without their caps or umbrellas.
The Met Office Thursday forecast the present teend of the weather would continue for at least three more days, thanks to the isolated thundershowers. This was a good news for the people in the northern region.
According to the weather forecast, there is no possibility of the development of heat wave conditions in the northwest and central India for the next five days.
According to the experts, the east and western parts of the country would get scattered rain for the next two-three days. On Thursday, Guwahati received a rainfall of 3 millimetres.
However, if the people in the north enjoyed the slide in the temperature, the southern region suffered the harsh summer sun. Andhra Pradesh’s Ongole recorded 43.5 degrees Celsius Thursday, the maximum temperature in the country. The mercury was well above the normal in southern cities like Chennai, Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram.
However, the Met Office said the southern region would get some rains in the coming days.
