Big powers increase insecurity in Iraq and Afghanistan:FM

Tehran : Foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki said failed policies of the big powers have caused insecurity and instability in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In a meeting with new representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Tehran, Mottaki said, “Unfortunately, international approaches and big powers’ interference in Afghanistan and Iraq have not solved their problems.”

According to Foreign Ministry Media Department on Saturday, Mottaki said the situation has caused continuation of misery among peoples of these two nations.

He continued Iran will be committed to its obligations concerning egistered refugees, but those who enter the country illegally should be controlled in the framework of law.

The new UNHCR representative in Tehran by submitting his credentials to the foreign minister said the aim of his mission here is to expand cooperation between UNHCR and the government of the Islamic Republic.

He also asked for Iran’s assistance to fulfill humanitarian duties of the UN body.
