Tehran : Foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki said member states of Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) should consolidate unity among themselves and strengthen their cultural interests.
In a meeting with new secretary general of IIPU here Saturday afternoon, Mottaki said, ” Nowadays, Muslim culture and faith have been targetted internationally by our enemies and the supporters of the idea of clash between civilizations.”
According to Foreign Ministry Media Department, Mottaki, by referring to the sufferings of Palestinians said, “The Zionists and their followers are celebrating 60th year of the creation of the occupying regime while we should ask them on which body of these Palestinian martyrs you are holding the ceremony.”
He pointed out, “Those who participate in the ceremony are partners of the Zionists’ crimes.”
Mottaki added, “IIPU can play an effective role in creating unity among Palestinian groups and prevent cultural onslaught.”
The New Secretary General of the IIPU Mahmud Erol Kilic, for his part, called for consultation with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on ways of strengthening IIPU.
Appreciating Iran’s cooperation in strengthening and stabilization of IIPU, Erol Kilic said, “We hope by joint efforts we can increase understanding among Islamic nations and gather them under one umbrella.”
