Eight killed in Kashmir accidents

Srinagar/Jammu : Eight people were killed and 22 injured in two separate accidents in Jammu and Kashmir Saturday.

At least four people were killed and 10 injured when a mini bus they were travelling in skidded off the road in Bharat area of Doda district Saturday morning.

The bus was on its way from Bharat to Doda town, about 175 km north of Jammu. It veered off the road and rolled down a gorge, killing four passengers on the spot, Doda Senior Superintendent of Police Manohar Singh told IANS on telephone.

In another accident, four people were killed and 12 injured when another mini bus they were travelling in overturned in Haritar village in Baramulla Saturday.

Baramulla Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Junaid said the bus was on its way from Sumbal town to Sopore when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

On Thursday, 35 people were killed and six injured in another road accident in Kishtwar district of Jammu region when a passenger bus skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab.
