Kuwaiti candidate calls for investing financial surplus

Kuwait : Second constituency candidate Bader Al-Hajri underscored importance of using financial income surplus resulting from sales of oil at high prices in the development process and upgrading civil services.

Speaking at inauguration of his campaigning headquarters in Doha, late on Saturday, Al-Hajri called for constructing a medical city, provided with needed equipment and qualified staff, to make up for shortage in this area.

He stressed on importance of improving educational curriculums for being a contributing factor in the state development, pointing out that studies released from Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) shows that more than 81 percent of Kuwaiti citizens agree that educational level is below the average.

Al-Hajri also urged the state bodies to curb rising food prices through laws to protect consumers and activate role of the Ministry of Trade and Industry to monitor the market.

He also called for reducing the legal age for voters to 18 and for allowing the military personnel to participate in the electoral process to expand the participation base.

Al-Hajri shed light on rights of people with special needs, need to provide them with jobs and educational opportunities and put their requirements in the favorable light.

Establishing summer clubs for young people are very important to fill “destructive spare time in something constructive,” he added.

He called on youth to select their representatives wisely, saying that this important segment of the society had shown keenness on Kuwait’s interests on more than one occasion.

The second constituency groups 13 areas and a total of 41,365 eligible voters of which 19,262 are men and 22,103 are women.
