New Delhi: Today when efforts are on to cast Islam in bad light and as a centre of conflicts and violence, to spread its message of love and humanity is the need of the hour, said National Commission for Minorities (NCM) Chairman Mohammad Shafi Qureshi.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Quran and Global Issues’ in the national capital on 11th May, Qureshi said world powers are hell-bent to tarnish the image of Islam and attributing all confrontations and subversions to Islam and Muslims. He said Islam came with the message of peace, security and love. It does not preach hatred to its followers; rather it has endorsed the Books and apostles of earlier nations.

In his opening speech, Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and famous historian Prof. Mushirul Hasan said that in order to communicate our message to others, it is necessary that it is presented in written word. Quran not only comments on all problems of past, present and future but also guides towards their solution, he said. The need is to create interest about Quran among the youths and make them ponder over it, he avered.

Maulana Abdullah Mugheesi, in his address, highlighted the universal relevance of Quran.

The programme was jointly organized by New Delhi’s Iran Cultural House, JMI’s Islamic Studies department and Quran Academy.
