Kuwait : The following is a short biography of each of the 10 winners of the first constituency for the 2008 parliamentary elections that were officially announced early on Sunday by chairman of the Primary Committee of the constituency.
Saleh Ashour (9,314 votes) was born in 1953 and holds a diploma in communications, a bachelors degree in economy, and a diploma in military sciences. He was formerly a colonel in the air force and an engineer in the Ministry of Communications. He was a National Assembly member in 1999, 2003 and 2006.
Abdullah Al-Roumi (9,314 votes) was born in 1949 and holds a degree in law. He became a member of the National Assembly in 1985, 1992, 1999, 2003, and 2006 and is a member of Parliamentarians Against Corruption.
Abdulwahed Al-Awadhi (8,464 votes) was born in 1955 and holds a diploma in aviation.
He was a board member in Daiya Co-op, Al-Arabi Sports Club, Environment Public Authority, and Kuwait Airways Corporation.
Al-Awadhi became a member of the National Assembly in 2003 and 2006, and was also State Minister for Housing.
Hassan Johar, (7,756 votes) was born in 1960 and holds a PhD in the philosophy of political sciences. He taught at Kuwait University between 1991 and 1996. He became a member of the National Assembly in 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2006.
Hussain Al-Huraiti, (7,338 votes) was born in 1962 and holds a degree in law. He held a number of positions with the prosecution, and also lectured at Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies, Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Academy of Security and Police Sciences, and the Interior Ministry’s criminal investigation department. He was elected MP in 2006.
Hussain Al-Qallaf, (7,274 votes) was born in 1958 and holds a degree in law and Islamic Sharia. He was elected National Assembly member in 1996, 1999, and 2003.
Adnan Abdulsamad, (7,155 votes) was born in 1950 and holds a bachelors degree in political and economic sciences and a diploma in planning. He held a number of positions at ministries before turning to the private sector. He was National Assembly member in 1981, 1992, 1996, 1999 and 2006.
Ahmad Lari, (6,919 votes) was born in 1955 and holds a bachelors degree in statistics. He was a member of the Municipal Council for three consecutive terms since 1993, and was elected MP in 2006.
Mikhled Al-Azmi, (6,872 votes) was born in 1961 and holds a degree in geography. He was a member of the Municipal Council in 1993 and a member of the National Assembly in 1996, 1999, and 2003.
Mohammad Hassan Al-Kandari, (6,064 votes) was born in 1971 and holds a bachelors degree in medicine and surgery.
