Noppadon said the two would hold a meeting at Bangkok’s Government House a day before the UN and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) holds a meeting in Yangon to discuss how to provide aid to Cyclone Nargis victims in Myanmar.

Noppadon said the UN SG would arrive in Bangkok on Wednesday and stay overnight before leaving for Yangon.

After Ban Ki-moon, as well as ambassadors of the United States and Britain, reportedly asked the Thai PM to help negotiate with Myanmar authorities to facilitate smooth entry of international relief supplies and aid staff, Samak had a one-day trip to the neighboring country last Wednesday to meet with Myanmar military government leaders.
