Gaza : Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transportation Shaul Mofaz said on Monday Israel must put an end to the self-restraint policy over Gaza Strip “dominating power, Hamas.” Mofaz told Israel Radio that dealing with Palestinian “terrorist” organizations cannot be done through peaceful means, but rather “through combat,” criticizing reported Tel Aviv’s tentative consent of a cease-fire proposal.
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak will be heading to Egypt to hold talks with President Honsi Mubarak to discuss the proposed Palestinian-Israeli truce.
Meanwhile, a Hamas delegation, currently in Cairo, is scheduled to meet Egyptian officials to discuss the planned six-month truce, which was reportedly approved by the Israeli side, before being implemented in the West Bank.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Israel will take very soon a “turning point decision” concerning the situation in Gaza strip where missiles have been launched against South Israel.
Olmert did not reveal further details about his decision that coincides with repeated Israeli minister calls to carry out a wide-scale military operation in Gaza Strip.
