New Delhi: Fourth national convention of Indian Muslim Council-USA (IMC_USA) will be held in Chicago on May 31st, 2008. Mr. Asim Khan, convention co-chair released the information about the convention today.
Indian Muslim Council-USA (IMC-USA), an advocacy group based in the USA has set “The Idea of India: Challenges and Prospects” as the theme of the convention. This meet is expected to bring Indian American community, activists, leaders and scholars together to discuss issues and topics related to India.
The convention will be held in The Meadows Convention Center located in Rolling Meadows, IL. Tarun Tejpal, editor of Tehelka magazine; Munaf Zeena, Chairman of Council of Indian Muslims (UK), Dr. Omar Khalidi, author of “Muslims in Indian Economy”, Martha Nussbaum, author of “The Clash Within” are some of the speakers who have confirmed their participation.
IMC-USA’s conventions have attracted leaders of different faith and this year Dr. Rahul Deepankar, Indian American Budhist and John Prabhudoos, Indian American Christian will participate.
Convention will also screen documentaries: “Who are the Dalits?”, “The Widow Colony”, “Encountered on Saffaron Agenda?” and “In The Name of God.”
IMC-USA has previoiusly organized three conventions in California (2003), Chicago(2004), and Detroit (2005).
