Berlin : Afghan security forces thwarted a terrorist attack targeting a German military site in Mazar-e-Sharif in the northern part of the country, German Defense Ministry said Thursday.
In a press statement, a ministry spokesman said that Afghan security forces stopped a truck that was rigged with 300-kilograms of explosives, noting that security personnel managed to arrest some terrorism suspects.
He said that 80 percent of the soldiers of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) deployed in Afghanistan were cooperating with the German Federal Defence Force, Bundeswehr.
German TV station, Sat 1, said that two of the arrestees wanted to execute terrorist attacks dictated by Al-Qaeda.
