Atwal, currently 14th on the Nationwide money list, needs to stay on in the top-25 to ensure full playing rights on the PGA Tour in 2009.

During the second round Friday, he looked like having an early exit for the week with bogeys on first and third. But an eagle on the par-5 sixth saw him back on the trail. Birdies on the 10th and 17th with a bogey in between on 14th saw him finish at 71 and finish the first two rounds at one-under 143 and in tied 43rd place.

The 36-hole cut came at even-par 144.

Jeff Klauk two-under-par 70, added to a first-day 64, putting him at 10-under 134 and one stroke in front of fellow North Florida resident Andy Bare (69), one of 14 Open Qualifiers this week, and Chad Ginn (65).

Texan Matt Weibring (70) holds down third place in the Nationwide Tour’s $650,000 event, two shots back of Klauk.
