New Delhi : At least 20 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and three government soldiers have been killed in fresh clashes in Northern Sri Lanka. At least 10 LTTE cadres were killed at Palampiddi, Periyamadu, Parayakulam and Marathamadu areas on the Vavuniya front and four more were killed at Karukkandal, Vediyamurippu, Pallaiperumalkaddu and Marithikannadi in Mannar district Sunday, news agency Indo Asian News Service reported Monday, quoting a Sri Lankan Defence Ministry statement.
In clashes in Janakapura North, Kiribbanwewa and Kokkuthuduwai, six LTTE cadres were killed and 16 others injured, also on Sunday.
Three troopers were also killed in the clashes, the Defence Ministry said.
