Cairo : The Executive Bureau of the Arab Justice Council reiterated Tuesday its condemnation of all forms of terrorism and called for its eradication, while refraining from linking terrorism to the peaceful religion of Islam.
At the conclusion of its meeting at the Arab League headquarters, the final communique called for differentiating between terrorism and the legal right of people to resist occupation and aggression.
It also stressed the importance of Arab-international counter-terrorism cooperation and forming a team to study the proposal of Saudi’s King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for the establishment of an international counter-terrorism center.
Moreover, it said coordination with the UN would continue for holding a special session at the General Assembly or an international conference on global terrorism, and for issuing an UN resolution in this regard.
The bureau tasked the council’s technical committee with coordinating with the Arab interior, information and communications councils over the implementation of the decision made by interior ministers on countering terrorists’ use of the internet.
It called for following up on the implementation of the Arab counter-terrorism agreement, and tasked the joint justice and interior committee with reviewing the draft agreement on combating money laundering and terrorism, so that it may be presented to the Arab Justice Council in its November meeting.
Earlier today, the bureau agreed to the formation of a committee for documenting genocides, and humanitarian and war crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, and they discussed means to finance this committee.
