Mohali : Kings XI Punjab opener Shaun Marsh struck a century to guide his team to a 41-run victory over Rajasthan Royals here Wednesday. Marsh, who scored 115 off 69 balls, thus became the leading run-getter of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Marsh has piled up 593 runs with one century and five half-centuries with an average of 74.12.
He became the third batsman to amass 500 runs in the competition. The top three batsmen are: Marsh (593), Gautam Gambhir (523) and Sanath Jayasuriya (514).
Marsh is the sixth player to register a century in the IPL – all six have been posted by overseas batsmen.

# The 133-run stand between Marsh and James Hopes (51) is the highest first-wicket partnership for Kings XI Punjab. It is the second best for the first wicket in the IPL, next only to the 155 (unbroken) between Adam Gilchrist and V.V.S. Laxman for Deccan Chargers vs Mumbai Indians at Mumbai on April 27.
# Niraj Patel (57) posted his maiden fifty in the IPL.
# Patel’s batting average of 101.00 is the second best in the competition, next only to Luke Pomersbach’s 152.00.
