Chennai region does best in CBSE class 10 exam

New Delhi : A little over 87 percent students passed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 examinations this year. The results were declared early Thursday.

This year, 765,095 students appeared for the Class 10 examination in India and abroad, and 87.08 percent cleared it. The pass percentage has increased by 2.64 percent from last year.

Of the six regions in India, Chennai topped with the highest pass percentage of 95.26, followed by Ajmer. Delhi was at fifth position.

As usual, girls outshone boys in the exams with the pass percentage of girls being 87.96 while the boys’ pass percentage was 86.46.

Students from 8,199 schools had sat for the CBSE class 10 exams at 2,624 centres this March.
