Madrid : A manifesto in favor of the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in United States was released Thursday in Spain to be signed by parliamentarians, deputies, civil service officials and companies.
Jose Luis Centella, member of the organizing commission to the Second Meeting of Solidarity with Havana City to be run in September in Malaga, presented the document.
The initiative will increase actions for the freedom of Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Ramon Labanino, currently serving harsh sentences for almost 10 years for monitoring terrorist groups responsible of violent actions against Cuba.
The text, delivered to Prensa Latina in Madrid, calls to create a network of public charges to support the release of those anti-terrorist fighters.
It also denounces the rigorous prison regime to which the Five have been subdued, as well as violations and irregularities committed in the judiciary process that sentenced to harsh and unjust jail sentences.
Those men are patriots who never harmed the US people’s values or integrity, rather defended their country from several aggressions, threats, sabotage, subversion and destabilization plans.
The manifesto also condemns a series of campaigns aimed at distorting Cuba’s image, and denounces US authorities finance of counterrevolutionary groups on the island.
