Rahimafrooz is setting up the new plant at Ishwardi in Pabna district, northern Bangladesh, The Daily Star said Friday quoting an official of the company.

A joint venture, it will manufacture 200,000 batteries a month.

The company has been exporting automotive batteries to over 35 countries including India, Dubai, Vietnam, Jamaica, Ghana, Chile, Paraguay, Mauritania and Lebanon, the official said.

The company’s two existing factories produce 140,000 batteries per month, a half of which is exported.

“You can say the whole local market for automotive batteries is controlled by Rahimafrooz as there is hardly any local competitor,” the official said.
