Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh) : No explosives were used in the blast that took place Friday at a Samajwadi Party legislator’s home in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district, a police official said Saturday.
The blast took place in the storeroom of Jagdeesh Sonker’s house in Jaunpur, over 200 km from Lucknow, killing his cousin.
“The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has ruled out the use of explosives substances in the blast,” Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Chandra Prakash told IANS.
He added the exact cause of the blast was yet to be ascertained and an inquiry was initiated into the case.
Sonker alleged that the blast was a handiwork of his political rivals to eliminate him, police added.t
