Washington : US Democratic candidate Barack Obama won the Presidency post after winning the traditionally-Democratic State of California, which has 55 electoral votes, the highest nationwide.
Major wins in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Mexico, Virginia and California helped Obama to build his lead to win the race.
Obama made history through becoming the first Afro-American to lead the United States in the costliest and longest campaigning elections in the American history.
Obama scored victories in Massassuchets, Vermont, Maine, New Jersey, Maryland, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Delaware, Illinois, Ohio, Rhode Island, Michigan, Wisconsin, and New York.
Republic rival John McCain won Arkansas, S. Carolina, W. Virginia, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Wyoming, North Dakota, and Texas, Kansas, Utah, Mississippi, and South Dakota.
