Being held for the first-ever time in the country, the ING Renault F1 Team Road Show will be a visual spectacle at Rajpath. It will be open to the public who will get a chance to see the Renault F1 cars and specialist stunt drivers.

The event is being brought to India at the invitation of the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games of India 2010, and is billed as part of “700 Days to go for the Commonwealth Games 2010” celebrations.

Sylvain Bilaine, country general manager for Renault, said the popularity of F1 has been steadily increasing in India and it was the right time for fans to watch F1 cars driven by official F1 Team drivers.

“The popularity of F1 is growing in India and soon the country will host a F1 race. So we thought this is the right opportunity to bring a F1 Road Show to India,” he said.

Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi said: “FI racing has a huge fan following in India. This show will enable fans to see fantastic cars. It will also signal India’s preparedness to provide better sporting facilities to the youth of the country.”

Kalmadi added that F1 will come to India in 2011. “F1 surpremo Bernie Eccleston has said that India will host the race in 2011,” he said.

The ING Renault F1 Team Roadshow has had great success over the last few years – with cities like Johannesburg, Mexico City, Istanbul, Moscow, Kiev, Paris, Lyon and Warsaw – welcoming the show.
