“Fourteen security personnel of local road construction firm Gul Rahim were killed in Yaqubi district Sunday evening as the US-led coalition forces attacked them from air,” the province’s governor Arsallah Jamal told reporters.

US officials were not immediately available for comment.

This was the second such incident of killings in two weeks by the international troops based in Afghanistan.

The first incident occurred in Shah Walikot district of southern Kandahar province early last week, leaving 37 civilians dead, including women and children.

President Hamid Karzai while felicitating US president-elect Barack Obama had asked the new US leadership for a revision of US anti-terror strategy in Afghanistan and asked him to shift the theatre of operation to terrorists’ known havens, hinting at Pakistani territory across the border.
