“By defeating the students of the Army Law Institute, Mohali in the north India rounds of the IEMCC that took place in Bhopal, our students have now reserved a berth in the finals,” university vice-chancellor Balraj Chauhan told IANS.

Thirty-five teams from across the globe have been selected for the finals that would be held at Florida in March, he added.

In a moot court competition, participants take part in simulated court proceedings and make arguments to prove their point on a given topic.

Chauhan, along with the selected students, has just returned from the National Law University (NLU), Bhopal, where the north India rounds were held Oct 30-31.

Twenty-one teams from different law institutions and universities had participated in the competition.

Madhya Pradesh High Court chief justice A.K. Patnaik was among the jury members of the competition held at Bhopal.

“It was a real life experience, when the judges quizzed us and challenged our plea. As our team succeeded in convincing the judges,” said Charu Modi, one of the students in the three-member RMLLU team.
