Madhya Pradesh official canvassing for son: Congress

Bhopal : The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh Saturday charged the state’s Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) P.P. Tiwari with misusing government resources for his son, who is contesting the assembly elections, and demanded his removal from the post.

“Tiwari is using the government phones to canvass support for his son Sarvendu Tiwari, who is contesting the assembly election on the Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) ticket in Sidhi district’s Churhat constituency,” Congress spokesperson J.P. Dhanopia told IANS.

Ajay Singh, son of Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, is Congress candidate against Tiwari.

Dhanopia said his party had complained to the Election Commission against the CIC and demanded his immediate removal till the completion of the election process.

He asserted that Tiwari was using official mobile and landline phones for canvassing and that the Election Commission should examine the details of his phone calls of the last one month and register a case against him for violating the electoral code of conduct.
