The statement, made by Abul-Walid, an activist of the brigades, coincides with the mounting escalation of violence between the two sides in the last two days.
The Egyptian-brokered deal on six-month ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) which rules the tiny Gaza enclave proved to be fragile. The deal will expire on December 18.

“The Palestinians no longer deem the ceasefire in their interest under the longstanding Israeli embargo on Gaza,” according to the statement.

The Israeli occupation authorities keep targeting the Gazan fishermen and farmers in northern and southern border areas of Gaza Strip, the statement underlined, adding that the Palestinian factions could decide on ending the ceasefire before December 18 in the light of the assessment of the developments on the ground.

It pointed out that Israel hammered the final nail in the coffin of the ceasefire through the recent raids on Gaza, adding that the atrocities being committed by Israel against the Palestinian people indicate the ill-will of the occupation authorities since the very beginning of the truce.

It added that Al-Quds Brigades had committed itself to the consensus among the Palestinian factions and agreed to the truce.

“The truce deal enshrined our right to self-defense and entitled us to react to any Israeli breach,” the statement added, noting the movement’s displeasure with the truce.

The Israeli army has launched several air-raids and incursions into Gaza Strip over the last two weeks, which left 11 Palestinians dead and dozens of injured people.

The Israeli military operations triggered strong reactions by the Palestinian movements which launched dozens of missiles on southern Israeli towns in the vicinity of the strip.

The statement of Al-Quds Brigades warned against possible large-scale Israeli military operation along the borders of Gaza Strip in response to the recent missile attacks on Israel.
