Srinagar : Traders here Wednesday ended a stalemate over commerce with Pakistan-administered Kashmir after the state government said it would soon clear a delegation that will travel to that country to chalk out business modalities.
Following the assurance, four lorries carrying goods from the Kashmir Valley travelled to Muzaffarabad across the Line of Control (LoC) – the de facto border between India and Pakistan – in north Kashmir Baramulla district.
The government said the delegation will travel to Pakistani Kashmir after a go ahead from the administration there.
“Four lorries carrying apples from the valley went to Muzaffarabad as part of the cross LoC trade,” an official told IANS on phone from the Salamabad trade facilitation centre near the Uri border town in Baramulla.
The trade across the LoC was started Oct 21.
Six mini trucks carrying goods from Pakistani Kashmir Tuesday crossed the border to reach Baramulla.
But no vehicle from this side travelled to Pakistan-administered Kashmir Tuesday because of the stalemate over traders’ demand that they be allowed to travel to sort out communication, banking and other arrangements with their counterparts across the border.
