Patna: In the continuous episodes of recovery of bombs from Kannur in Kerala10 more high intensity bombs were recovered by the police yesterday during a raid in the district. Reportedly they are capable of much destruction if used. Six of them are steel bombs.
The six powerful bombs made of steel container were recovered from Nallanka, 35 kilometers away from Kannur. The bombs were found in a bucket kept in an uninhabited area. Rest of the bombs were recovered from Kolavallur.
In another incident police recovered 500 kg of gunpowder from Kathapurmba. The state Police raided many places in search of explosives and bombs after more than 200 bombs were recovered on November 3, 2008, 3 days before which two RSS activists died whiled making bombs.
According to some media reports Kerala Police has constituted a special squad. The purpose of the squad is to search the existence of further explosives in the state and to investigate into the reasons why and where explosives in such huge quantity are being made in the state.
TwoCircles.net talked to Ahmad Shareef the resident editor of the Malyalam daily Thejas in this regard. He pointed out that it should not be alarming to one who knows the political situation of Kannur. He explained that this district is famous for the violent rivalry between RSS and CPM.
The whole district is divided into two camps which are strongholds of RSS and CPM.
The rivalry between the two is very famous because of which clashes between the two happen on the daily basis. More often than not these clashes are violent. So if one person from CPM is killed in the clash nobody will wait for the police action but CPM will also kill another member of RSS.
Mr. Shareef pointed out that what is unfortunate is that this kind of violent way of politics is patronized by the political parties in the state. Both RSS and CPM keep their own goons. This rivalry is also visible in the jails where also they engage in violent clashes.
As far as the bombs are concerned this is a small scale industry here. There are many houses which are involved into this business. Because the daily clashes between the RSS and CPM these bombs sell like hot cakes. He referred to the idea of Party Gram. The political loyalty of any village is known throughout the district and the rival party doesn’t dare enter and campaign in that village.
