UAE, Pakistani presidents voice keenness to boost bilateral ties

Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan voiced here Monday their keenness to boost their bilateral ties, the official Emirates News Agency reported.

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his visiting Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari expressed the desire during their meeting.

During the meeting, the two presidents discussed bilateral ties and ways to enhance the bilateral ties in various fields in a way that will open new avenues for mutual cooperation and possible creation of partnership in different sectors, said the report.

Zardari was quoted as saying that Pakistan is eager to boost its relations with the UAE that has made progress in economic development in recent years.

He, meanwhile, expressed his gratitude for the great support and humanitarian assistance given by the UAE to the Pakistani people.

The two leaders also exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest, as well as regional and international developments, hoping that countries around the world will be able to overcome the current financial crisis, according to the report.

Zardari arrived here Monday afternoon for a two-day visit to the Gulf country of UAE.
