Kuwait : Kuwait was plunged into a political crisis with the full resignation of the cabinet after the boycott to a parliamentarian session that could bring about early elections.
Government sources stated that the government ministers in this Persian-Arabic Gulf emirate left the audience, in which Prime Minister Sheik Nasser Mohammed al Ahmas al Sabad should have answered the legislator’s questions.
The parliamentarians were interested in the Shiite-Iranian clergy man’s visit that allegedly insulted the Sunnite Islam, but tension caused withdrawal of al-Sabah and his team, who immediately held an urgent meeting.
Last week, three Islamic deputies demanded the arrest of al-Sabah, who is the Emir’s nephew, for allowing the Shiite clergy man’s entry to the country, and accused him of failing in fulfilling his constitutional duties.
They were also complaining that corruption and the waste of public funds had increased quickly under Prime Minister’s leadership.
Legislator Nasser al-Sane said the cabinet presented on Tuesday their resignation to the Emir, but other spokesmen could not confirm if the Head of State Sheik Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabad has accepted the resignation request.
