Srinagar : Union Water Resources Minister Saif-ud-Din Soz, who is also president of the state Congress unit, said here Wednesday that the separatists’ poll boycott call was anti-people as it would add to their problems rather than solve these.
Addressing poll meetings in north Kashmir Baramulla district Wednesday, Soz said: “I am happy to see that people had appreciated, in ample measure, that boycott of the electoral process is not in their interests. Therefore, they are participating in the elections”.
He said the present atmosphere in the Kashmir Valley was conducive for further strengthening of the democratic process in the state.
He appealed to the people to vote for the candidates of the Congress party as “this party alone can serve the people of the state to fulfill their aspirations”.
Elections in Jammu and Kashmir are being held in seven phases. The first phase was held Nov 17 and the second phase was held Nov 23 while the third phase is scheduled for Nov 30. Counting will take place Dec 28.
