The prime minister was due to leave for Hong Kong on Sunday on a four-day official visit to attend the Asia meeting of Bill Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).

The attacks on Taj hotel in Mumbai and other locations have created tension between the two countries after Indian leaders said ‘elements in Pakistan’ were behind the attacks.

Islamabad denies any involvement.

PM’s Special Assistant Begum Shahnaz Wazir Ali will now represent the country at CGI meeting in Hong Kong, the PM office said.

Gilani has started consultations with the top military generals and political leaders to take them into confidence over the situation.
