Kabul : Roadside bombing targeting one U.S. private security company USPI on Sunday left one Afghan employee dead and another injured in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan, said an Afghan official.
Zalmai Ayubi, spokesman for the provincial government, told Xinhua that the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. (0630 GMT) when a vehicle laden with explosive material was blown off by remote control in the Spinboldak highway near airport and NATO military base there.
Ayubi said the blast at least killed one Afghan staff and wounded the other while the USPI convoy was passing that area.
“One USPI vehicle was also damaged,” he added. “Afghan police and NATO forces have rushed to the site and cordoned it off.”
No group or individuals has yet to claim responsibility for the attack while Taliban militants often carried out such attacks against foreign companies, especially those providing service for international troops stationed in Afghanistan.
Spiraling conflicts and Taliban-linked insurgency have claimed around the lives of 5,000 people with some 2,000 civilians so far this year in strife-torn Afghanistan while Taliban insurgents have vowed to intensify assaults against interests of the Afghan government and international troops before the coming winter.
