Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday called upon international community to show better understanding of violence-hit country’s situation to stop exodus and defeat nefarious motives of extremists.
Gilani was talking to his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk who phoned him to express the gratitude of his government Pakistan’s relentless efforts for release of Polish Surveyor who was abducted on September 28th from Attock District in Punjab province, an official statement said.
Polish surveyor was kidnapped when he was engaged in soil survey for exploration of oil and gas by unidentified gunmen who killed his guard and two drivers.
Pakistani Taliban have claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and are demanding release of their comrades, a spokesman for the militants has said.
“One of the main objectives of the terrorists is to destroy Pakistan’s economy by targeting the foreigners which has led to the flight of foreign businessmen from the country,” Prime Minister said in his talk to Polish counterpart.
Local reports said that Polish engineers and experts attached to Geo-Fizyka Krakow Ltd, have left Pakistan after the kidnapping of surveyor.
Gilani apprised the Polish Prime Minister in detail of the security arrangements which had been made for the Polish engineers and surveyors of the company, the statement said.
Local Taliban have stepped up kidnapping of foreigners to force acceptance of their demands for the release of their jailed colleagues.
Suspected militants kidnapped Afghan Ambassador-Designate Abdul Khaliq Farahi late last month from the city of Peshawar and two Chinese engineers one and a half months ago in Dir District in the Northwest Province.
