Tashkent : India recorded a solitary goal win over Indonesia in their final Group B match of the AFC Under-16 football Championship here.
India thus finished third in the group.
In Wednesday’s match, striker Manandeep headed the ball into the Indonesian goal in the first half.
India started on a positive note with at least four good moves in the first half. India opened the attack as early as the fourth minute when Tirathankar Sarkar passed on to Fela but his right footer went high over the cross bar. Mannandeep then passed on to Fela but his right footer went just wide of the left bar.
Seven minutes before the half time mark Tirathankar made a good move from the left flank passing the ball inside the box to Malswamfela but his header went over the bar.
India could have increased the lead in the 62nd minute but Malswamfela failed to beat the Indonesian custodian.
Indian Goalkeeper Jayanta Paul once again stood like a rock in front of waves of attack by Indonesians in the second half, with an especially brilliant save in the 62nd minute.
