London : The second international conference on Proximity Among Islamic Schools of Thought will be held here on Saturday at the Islamic Center of England (ICE).
The one-day conference, themed ‘Proximity; Discourse in Support of the Holy Qur’an and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)’, aims to forge unity among different Islamic sects.
Head of ICE, Abdolhossein Moezzi, said in a press conference Thursday, that consolidation in ideology and religion is a basic principle in Islam.
“Unity in the Islamic Ummah currently forms the basis for more friendly relations among Muslims”, Moezzi said, adding that some elements and “enemies” are trying to sow the seeds of discord among Muslims, particularly at the present time, when Muslim states are gaining breakthroughs in different sectors.
“The idea of proximity among Islamic schools of thought is in fact a movement towards constructing unity and promoting common stances among Muslims against anti-Islamic conspiracies,” he said.
Islamic scholars from different Islamic and European countries including Iran, the United Kingdom and France, will participate in the conference to discuss various issues including proximity among Islamic schools of thought.
Moezzi said presentations, following the holding of the first successful conference in London last year, will be made in support of the holy Qur’an and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
