Saudi Arabia calls for enhancing UNESCO’s committee

Paris : Saudi Arabia has reiterated the importance of enhancing UNESCO’s international governmental committee for oceans sciences. The Kingdom called for giving more attention to the issue of the climate change.

The remarks of the Kingdom were made in the speech delivered by deputy minister of education for boys education and member of the executive council of UNESCO Dr Saeed al-Mileis here Wednesday at the meetings of the 180th session of the UNESCO’s executive council.

Dr al-Mileis lauded the efforts of UNESCO to help the Iraqi people as regards improving education and technical training as well as its role as regards implementing decisions pertaining to the educational and cultural institutions in the occupied Arab territories and its role in reconstruction of Lebanon.

Dr al-Milieis called for adopting the recommendation of the secretaries general of the national committees of the Arab countries, held in Kuwait, as regards benefiting from the recommendations of the international dialogue conference among the followers of the religions, earlier held in Madrid at the initiative of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.

The recommendations rejected the idea of the civilians conflict and called for spreading the culture of tolerance, understanding and mutual respect.

They also called for issuing an international document that stipulates respect of religion and conducting dialogue among the nations of the world.

Dr al-Mileis noted that the recommendation of the national consultation committees for north Europe, held in Hague, called for setting certain standards for education for sustainable development.

He pointed out that the Kingdom has been contributing to the budget of the higher commission for human rights by $50,000 annually.

This stands a witness for its support to the just causes of the mankind throughout history, he said.
