Khartoum : Two armed men were killed and one Sudanese soldier was injured in armed clashes with rebels in one of the refugee camps in southern Darfur, the Sudanese military said.
An armed group attacked a Sudanese military unit inside Nertiti refugee Camp in Marrah Mountain in Darfur state, Sudanese military spokesman Othman Mohammad said in a statement on Saturday.
The spokesman added the Sudanese military unit returned with fire and the clashes resulted in killing two armed men and injuring one solider.
On Friday night, seven people were killed including four Sudanese soldiers in an attack by the rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in Darfur.
The Governor of West Darfur Abu Al-Qasim Imam said in a statement that the attack targeted a convoy from the district on its way to a city close to the Sudanese-Chadian borders.
He condemned the attack that came at a time of international reconciliation efforts aimed at putting an end to violence in the country and following peace negotiations amongst Sudanese factions including the JEM carried out in Qatar.
