Islamabad : A suspected U.S. pilotless droneon Thursday fired missiles in Pakistan’s tribal region, killing at least six people, local TV reported.
Three missiles hit two houses in Sam Kunigram area of South Waziristan tribal region on the Afghan border, leaving at least six dead and five injured, Dawn News TV said.
South Wazirsitan tribal agency is the stronghold of the umbrella organization of Pakistan’s Taliban groups, led by Baitullah Mehsud, who was blamed for assassination of former primeminister Benazir Bhutto.
U.S. drones have conducted many cross-border strikes inside Pakistan recently, blaming Pakistan’s inability to curtain Taliban insurgency in the tribal regions.
