Riyadh : The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) secretary-general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu congratulated on Saturday the governments of Turkey and Uganda for having their countries been elected to become non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
He noted in a press statement that the two new members are joining Burkina Faso and Libya as non-permanent members in the UN Security Council and that all four have the added distinction of being members in the OIC.
He expressed full confidence that all four would be working hard for world peace and international security and would become strong advocates for Muslim causes in all international arenas.
The new membership of Turkey and Uganda would indisputably boost relations between the UN and the OIC, he said.
