Electrician working for Canadian High Commission found murdered

New Delhi : A 37-year-old electrician working for the Canadian High Commission was Monday found stabbed to death near a drain in west Delhi, police said.

The body of Shiv Prasad, who was missing from his Mangolpuri home since Sunday, was found with stab injuries in the chest near a drain in L-Block of Paschim Vihar around 7.40 a.m. His body was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.

Police said Shiv Prasad’s family had a filed a missing person complaint Sunday evening after the high commission officials asked them why he was absent.

“Shiv Prasad was identified from the high commission identity card and a telephone bill found on him. Initial investigations suggest that he was stabbed directly in the heart,” said investigating inspector Jai Bhagvan.

“The family of the deceased said he had been working with the Canadian High Commission for the past six to seven years as an air conditioner electrician and did not have any enemies,” he added.

Police said a case of murder has been registered and investigations were underway. Shiv Prasad is survived by his wife and four children – three girls and a boy.
